Una semana diferente y especial!

El Martes tuvimos reunión de intercambios y conocí a mi nuevo compa! Fue un poco difícil dejar ir a mis hermanos del trío! Elder Mason me enseño tanto sobre la misión, y Elder Solano fue mandado por Dios; para ayudarme a relajar y para tener un hermano aquí en L.A.! Elder Delgado, mi nuevo compañero es muy diferente. Apesar que somos latinos y hablamos el mismo idioma, nuestra manera de pensar y palabras que usamos son diferentes. Aúnque algunas veces es una prueba , estoy tan agradecido de tenerlo. El me ha enseñado a escuchar y observar el lenguaje corporal de nuestros investigadores. Siento que debido a su cultura él me ayuda a poder relacionarme con la gente de aquí!

 

Elder Delgado

El miércoles estuvimos la mayoría del día en la librería por qué estamos aprendiendo una nueva aplicación misional para ayudarnos a organizarnos mejor! Las agendas diarias que tenemos van a ser en el iPad y va a ser más rápido planear y organizar!

El jueves tuve otro problema con las llantas de mi bicicleta. Me cansé de los problemas y compre nuevas llantas, cámaras industriales, un foro plástico para protegerla, y otras cositas! Ya se ve como una bicicleta regular jijiji.

Nuestros investigadores están progresando y ya están agarrando el ritmo de la obra! Están llegando y buscando a sus propias respuestas! Como ellos están progresando, los compromisos que le extendemos son más fácil para ellos poder comprometerse; por que ya ven los milagros.

El Viernes en la tarde fuimos a que la Hna. G para ayudarla con su grama. Está totalmente muerta entonces fuimos a ver qué podíamos hacer.  En la noche, fuimos al Centro Visitante con un menos activo y su novia.  Fue un poco loco llegar al templo por qué el carro de el se daño, antes de llegar a la casa del trabajo; el frío estaba muy peludo; llegaron todos tardes. Satanas estaba trabajando muy fuerte, pero lo vencimos y pudimos llegar. El templo esta BELLO! La luces son tan increíbles y se ven de la calle, y de lejos! Las palmas las decoraron hasta arriba! El jardín lo cubrieron con luces, y todos los árboles también! Fue un momento tan espiritual con M. y J! Fue la primera lección que tuvimos con ella entonces fue tan especial explicarle que la meta es el templo, el bautismo es como una puerta que hay que pasar!

El Sábado fue el súper servicio en la casa de la Hermana G. (miembro). Su grama estaba murerta entonces fuimos a sacar todo lo muerto, cultivar la tierra, pusimos semillas, y después fertilizante! Debido a esto, pudimos enseñarle a la hermana de la Hna. G y fue increíble hablar con ella!

El Domingo fue increíble! Pude sentir tanta paz en la sacramental y pude renovar mis convenios! En la noche, fuimos al Centro de Visitante otra vez con E (una de nuestras investigadoras), la familia M y la Hna. M! La luces estávan bellas! Esa noche fue especial por qué tuvieron un devotional en Español!  Que bello! Y pude disfrutar un poco más de las luces!

Bueno ya me tengo que ir pero aquí les dejo mi reporte jajaja! La escritura de la semana es:

No me elegisteis vosotros a mí, sino que yo os elegí a vosotros, y os he puesto para que vayáis y llevéis fruto, y vuestro fruto permanezca; para que todo lo que pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, él os lo dé.

La oración es un mandamiento y se nos olvida que algunas veces el Señor no responde en nuestro tiempo! La oración es una manera de demostrar nuestro amor, el espera a ver cuántas veces vamos a orar hacia el para ver cuánto en verdad lo amamos! Aman lo siempre, él nunca va dejarnos solos!

It was a different and special week!

       On Tuesday we has exchanges and I met my new companion!  It was a little difficult leaving my trio brothers!  Elder Mason taught me so much about the mission, and Elder Solano was sent by God to help me relax and so I could have a brother here in L.A.  Elder Delgado is my new companion and he is very different.  Even though we are Latinos and speak the same language, our way of thinking and words we use are different.  Although it can be a challenge at time, I am so grateful to have him.  He has taught me to listen and observe body language in our investigators.  I feel that because of his culture he can help me better relate with the people here.

       On Wednesday, we spend the majority of the day in the library; because we were learning a new missionary app that will help us better organize.  The daily agendas that we have will now be on the iPad, which will make it faster to plan and organize!

On Thursday, I had another problem with my bike tires.  I was tired of all the problems so I bough new tires, a plastic cover to protect it, and other things.  Now it looks like a regular bike.

       Our investigators are progressing and they are getting in the rhythm of the lessons.  They looking for and receiving their own answers!  Because they are progressing the commitments/covenants that we extend to them are easier for them to commit to because they are seeing the miracles manifest in their lives.

       On Friday afternoon we went to Sister G’s house to help her with her grass.  It was completely dead so we went to see what could be done.  At night, we went to the Visitor’s Center with a less active member and his girlfriend.  It was a little crazy getting to the temple because his car broke down on his way home from work; it was so cold!  Satan was working extra hard against us, but we prevailed and made it.  The temple is BEAUTIFUL! The lights are incredible you can see them from the street and far away.  The palm trees are decorated till the very top. The garden and trees are decorated with many lights.  It was a very spiritual moment with M (the girlfriend) and J (less active member).  It was the first lesson we had with her so it was so special to explain that the main goal is the temple; that baptism is like a door we have to go thru to get to our goal. 

       Saturday was the super special service project at Sister G’s house.  Her grass was dead so we removed all of it, tilled the earth, planted seed, and added fertilizer.  Because of our service project we were able to teach sister G’s sister and it was incredible talking to her. 

       Sunday was incredible! I felt so much peace during sacrament and I was able to renew my covenants.  In the nighttime we went back to the Visitor’s Center with E (and investigator), the M family, and sister M.  The lights were beautiful.  That night was special because they had a Spanish devotional.  So beautiful! And I was able to enjoy the lights some more.

       Well I have to go but I leave you with my report! The scripture of the week is:

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

John 15:16

       Prayer is a commandment and sometimes we forget that the Lord doesn’t respond on our time.  Prayer is a way to demonstrate our love; he waits to see how many times we will pray to him to see how much we love him.  Love him always; he never leaves us alone!

December 7,2015-Semana de traslados/ Transfer week

Bueno!! Una buena escritura para establecer el tono de esta semana:

Sino que tengáis paciencia y soportéis esas congojas, con una firme esperanza de que algún día descansaréis de todas vuestras aflicciones.

Que locura ha sido vivir con mis compañeros. Estoy tan agradecido de tener estos compañeros, aprendi tanto de ellos! Hemos visto muchos milagros esta semana. Estamos disfrutando de esta área y podemos ver como el Señor nos está ayudando. Un día se nos canceló nuestra cita de comer y otro hermano nos llamó exactamente después para darnos de comer! El Señor nos está protegiendo!

Tenemos una investigadora que se llama M., ella es la mama del hermano que nos llamó para ir a comer con el. Bueno, ella tuvo un milagro que va ser una buena herramienta para las lecciones. Ella tuvo un sueño que entro al templo (nadamas tiene un conocimiento de cómo se ven adentro por qué estaba leyendo la Liahona de los templos). Entro y vio muchas luces bellas y iba con su familia; vio que todos estaban muy felices y disfrutando del amor que tenian. Entraron a un cuarto y vio al Profeta Joseph Smith y no lo pudo creer. Sintió una paz y felicidad cuando vio que él estaba ahí! Ella estaba muy feliz que tuvo este sueño; y nosotros también!!!!!

El martes fuimos a almorzar a que una hermana. Cuando estavamos entrando, a la entrada de la casa, los frenos de mi bicicleta se me salieron y choque contra la curva. Tuve la suerte que mientras estaba volando en el aire, caí en mis pies y nada más me rasguñé los brazos. Después del tremendo show que le di a mis compañeros, comimos una comida muy rica!

Fuimos a la casa de la misma hermana que nos dio almuerzo el dia anterior para buscar un árbol de Navidad. El lunes compramos unas luces para la casa y con el árbol se ve perfecto! Después el otro SUPER árbol que me mandaron! Ustedes son tan buenos conmigo! Estas decoraciones son tan especiales y la creatividad está en otro nivel! Mis compañeros agradecieron mucho esos detalles, y a ahí veo como hago con el del Elder Barker.

  

Llego la Navidad

J. sigue progresando muchísimo! El jueves salió con nosotros a visitar unos instigadores. Visitamos a unos y la única que estaba era R. Cuando llegamos ella le estaba cortando el pello a un cliente; 20 minutos después tuvimos una lección. Por mucho del tiempo ella estaba hablando. En un momento R. dejó de hablar y sentí que tenía que invitar a J. a testificar. WOW! El espíritu vino tan fuerte cuando ella testificó! Ella dio testigo de la importancia de leer las escrituras y como ella tomo la decisión de leer las para saber qué eran verdaderas. Explicó cómo ella lo hico y como vio el espíritu cambiar y guiar su vida! Un momento, mire hacia la dirección de R. y vi cómo ella estaba tan conectada y parecía que estaba escuchando cada palabra con delicades y humildad! J. es una Ángel!

             Llego DICIEMBRE ya pueden imaginarse que los preparativos para la Navidad se están poniendo serio! Ya unos cuantos hermanos me están dando música para practicar para dentro de 2 semanas. Tengo la suerte que las estoy aprendiendo muy rápido.M e dieron una música que en verdad cuando la vi dije "wow, tengo que practicar unas cuantas veces para poder aprendérla. No estoy manchando (mintiendo) cuando digo que la practique una ves la semana pasada y y una ves antes de la práctica y me salió casi perfecta! Yo les dije a los hermanos que no sabia si iba a estar en esta zona para el tiempo del evento por qué traslados ya iba ser el próximo martes. 

Tuvimos que llamar a como 4 personas para ver si me decian si me iba a quedar, o ir! Las emociones que uno siente durante la semana de traslados es un poco ansiosa por qué nunca sabes.  Bueno llego la noche y llegamos a la casa a las 9p.m. y se llama "chisme night", la noche que nos dice si nos vamos o no, por qué todos los Elderes están llamandose los unos a otros para ver si se van o se quedan, es tan chistos por qué el teléfono no déjà de sonar hasta las 10:30. Hay no, que chiste! Bueno los resultados del cambio es que… Yo me voy a quedar otro traslado! Los DOS se me van a otras áreas y a mí me va llegar el Elder Delgado. Estoy emocionado por qué dicen que es converso a la Iglesia y que sabe cómo enseñar bien!Les digo más de él la próxima semana.

It has been so crazy living with my companions. I am so grateful to have had them; I learned so much from them.

          We have seen many miracles this week.  We are enjoying this area and we can see how the Lord is helping us.  For example one day our lunch appointment was cancelled and right after another brother called to see if he could feed us! The Lord is protecting us!

          We have an investigator called M.  she is the mother of the brother that called to feed us.  Well, she experienced a miracle that is going to be a great tool in our lessons.  She had a dream that she entered into the temple (the only knowledge she has of what temples look like from the inside is through the Ensign).  In her dream she entered and saw many beautiful lights and she was with her family.  She saw that they were very happy and enjoying the love they shared.  They entered into a room and she saw the Prophet Joseph Smith and she could not believe it.  She felt a peace and happiness when she saw him there.  She was very happy she had this dream; we were to!!!

          On Tuesday we went to have lunch at a sister’s house.  When we were near the entrance of her home, the breaks on my bike gave out and I hit the curb hard.  I was lucky that as I flew through the air I still managed to land on my feet and escaped with only some scratches on my arm.  After the show I put on for my companions we had a delicious meal.

On Thursday we went to that same sister’s house and picked up a Christmas tree she gave us.  On Monday we had brought some lights for the apartment and with the tree it was perfect! Then there was that amazing tree you guys made and sent me!!! You guys are so good to me!!! Those decorations are so special and your creativity is on another level.  My companions are so thankful for including them as well, I will see how I can get Elder Barker his.

 

Christmas has arrived

          J. continues to progress so much!  On Thursday she went with us to visit some investigators. We visited some but the only one that was home was R.  When we arrived she was in the middle of cutting a clients hair; 20 minutes later we had our lesson.  For most of the time she spoke a lot. In a paused moment I felt like I should ask J. to testify.  WOW! The spirit came strong when she testified! She gave testimony of the importance of reading our scriptures and how she made the decision to read them so she could know for herself that they were true.  She explained how she did it and how she saw the spirit start to change and guide her life! During this time I turned to look at R and I saw how she was hanging on to every word that was coming out of her mouth, there was humility to her countenance.  J is an angel!

          Well December is here you cam imagine how serious the Christmas plans are progressing.  Already on one of the brothers has given me music to practice for an even in two weeks.  I have been very lucky to be learning them so quickly.  They gave me one that when I looked at it I was like WOW I am going to have to practice this one a couple of times.  I am not lying when I say I only practiced it one time last week and one time before the rehearsal and it came out almost perfect.  I told the brethren that I didn’t know if I was going to be in this zone at the time of the event because transfers where coming on Tuesday.

          Well we had to call like 4 people to find out if I was leaving or staying! I felt very anxious in the days leading up to transfer week because you never know.  Well we arrived home at 9 on “gossip night”; they call it that because all the Elders call each other to say what their verdict is.  The phone doesn’t stop ringing till 10:30pm.  Oh it’s so funny!!! Well the results of transfers is… I am staying in this area for another transfer! Both of my companions are leaving me and my new companion is Elder Delgado. I am excited because they say he is a convert and he knows how to teach well! I will tell you more about him next week.

November 30, 2015- Una semana de muchas emociones/ A week with many emotions

Quería empezar con una de mis tiernas misericordias de esta semana para establecer el tono:

Una gran misericordia:

Como diabético, varios factores pueden afectar los niveles de azúcar y al estar enfermo es una manera que se vuelven locos! Así que por “suerte” estuve enfermo esta semana y mis niveles de azúcar estuviero locos. Hubo una noche que fue bastante alto (303) y el resultado de eso (no a causa de la muerte, sino porque mi vista y el poder oir se dañan) es posiblemente no poder despertar. Así que hice todo lo que pude para bajar mi nivel de azúcar en la sangre y trate de calmarme y relajarme, con una oración poderosa; por la mañana, me desperté con casi un azúcar perfecta y una paz en mi corazón que todo estaria bien.

Otra tierna misericordia sería la visita del Elder Clark. La gente realmente se abrieron para nosotros y vieron cómo este evangelio es importante para nosotros, muchos incluso diciendo "¿cómo me puedo sentir como tu sientes". Así que fue realmente fácil testificar y comprometerse a una cita de regreso!

Entonces ya ven un poco de la locura de esta semana. No piensen que estuve en los 303 todo el tiempo, pero si estuvo alta muchas veces. Ya e hecho un plan de acción, y si lo cumplo yo sé que el Señor me va a guiar.

Esta semana fue in poco rara en perspectiva de tiempo por que nuestro "P-Day" fue el martes entonces eso cambió un poco de las cosas! Tenemos una nueva investigadora que se llama M. y ella es tan chevere! Ya le encanta todo lo que compartimos y acepta las invitaciones. Ella es otra J! Jajaja El Jueves fue Thanksgibi (como lo dice papi) y la pasamos súper! Estaba un poco frío y mis manos se me están congelando, me voy a comprar unos guantes hoy. Todos los jueves tenemos planeamiento semanal donde planeamos por todos nuestros investigadores y organizamos nuestros calendarios. Cuando estuvimos en el mero del planeamiento, uno de nuestros investigadores nos llamó para pedirnos ayudar para mover sus muévelos. El milagro en eso es que él nos dijo que nunca nos iba a pedir ayuda por qué le gusta hacer las cosas solo; entonces cómo nos pidió, sentimos que estaba abriendo su corazón hacia nosotros y el evangelio! Nos pusimos un cohete y nos fuimos corriendo! Elder Solano y yo aprovechamos y nos pusimos "ropa de servicio" y nuestras chanclas jajaja.

Visitamos a muchos menos activos antes de ir a nuestra cena de Thanksgiving. Fue un milagro por qué muchos estaban en casa y quieran hablar con nosotros, de ahí van a salir muchos nuevos investigadores. Nos fuimos a la casa de la Familia R. (hice unas cuantas arepas pero no las pude agarrar de la casa por qué nuestro tiempo estuvo limitado) y compartimos con ellos; ellos son tan chevere y pasamos un tiempo muy bueno con ellos.

El Viernes fue el cumpleaños del Elder Solano(20) y la noche antes estuvimos despiertos tarde por qué mi azúcar estaba muy alta y no me quiera acostar con 303. Hablamos toda la noche y en verdad ya lo veo como un hermano!! Y a las 12:00a.m., le cante Feliz Cumpleaños y le di una de mis colonias como regalo (el Lacoste). Todo el día le cocine comida muy rica (les mando fotos), y disfrutamos, pero todavía estuvimos trabajando jajaja. Estoy tan agradecido que el Señor me dio compañeros que me entienden y son tan sabios, los dos tienen más de un año en la misión. Elder Solano es de Chicago, y sus padres son de México. Elder Mason es "guerro" jajaja, y sus padres también.

El Sábado tuvimos 0 lecciones pero si pudimos hablar con MUCHAS personas y era tan especial. Planeamos ir al centro de visitante con uno de nuestros investigadores y todo estaba listo para ir. Pero, en la noche llamo y canceló tristemente por qué tenia mucha tarea para el próximo día. Entonces tuvimos que planear que íbamos hacer todo ese tiempo.

El Domingo fue "chill". Como era el quinto domingo, era domingo misional entonces los 5 misioneros (nuestros compañerismo y el otro) preparamos algo especial: dos fueron testimonios, y otros 2 fueron discursos. Y YO... prepare un número especial! Hace 3 semanas encontré un libro en la capilla de puros arreglos bellos de himnos. Entonces encontré un bello arreglo de "Tu Me Has Dado Muchas Bendiciones, Dios". La practique el Domingo pasado y ese Domingo, tuve la bendición que lo aprendí muy rápido y lo toque súper, en verdad! Pensé mucho en mis cheerleaders por qué me hacía falta mis abrazos y besos de ellas jajaja.

Bueno! Esta semana ha sido única y muchas gracias por la caja, como siempre era perfecta! Siento mucho amor de ustedes y es tan necesario en este tiempo de necesidad.

Aqestá la escritura de la semana: Confía en Jehová con todo tu corazón, y no te apoyes en tu propia prudencia. Reconócelo en todos tus caminos, y él enderezará tus veredas.

Pude "meditisar" está escritura y la pude recitar con verdadera intención! Fue una semana de todo estilos de sentimientos, y en unos momentos pude decir: "cómo puedo servir con todas mis debilidades", pero después recite esta escritura y sentí el amor del Señor! Las escrituras son una manera de poder combinar los poderos de los cielos y tierra para recibir revelación personal en como debemos ser en esta vida! Los invito para que siempre aparten un tiempo especial para leer las escrituras! Cuando pensamos en como nos pueden ayudar eternamente, nunca solataremos esos libros canónicos de nuestras manos!

I would like to start with a tender mercy in order to establish the tone of the week:

A tender mercy:

as a diabetic, various factors can affect your sugars and being sick is a GREAT way to drive it crazy! So luckily for me I was sick this week and my sugars were crazy. There was one night that it was pretty high (303) and the outcome of that is possibly not being able to wake up (not because of death, but because my sight and hearing would be damaged). So I did all I could to lower my blood sugar and tried to calm down and relax, with a mighty prayer; in the morning, I woke up with almost a perfect blood sugar and a peace in my heart that all will be okay.
 Another tender mercy would be from Elder Clark's visit and speaking with BIG CAPS. People really opened up to us and saw how this gospel is important to us, many even saying, "how can I feel like you feel". So it was really easy to testify and commit to a return appointment!

As you can see this week was a little crazy. Please don’t think that my blood sugar was in the 303’s all the time, but it was high many times.  I have made a plan of action, and if I do my part I know the Lord will guide me.

          This week was weird in the perspective of time because our P-Day was changed to Tuesday so this switched things up a bit. We have a new investigator called M. She is super cool! She is in love with everything we have shared and accepts all the invitations.  She is another J! Lol Thursday was Thanksgiving and we had an awesome time! It was a little cold and my hands were freezing, I’m going to buy some gloves today.  Every Thursday we have weekly planning where we make plans for all of our investigators and we organize our calendars. While we were in the middle of planning, one of our investigators called us and asked us for help moving furniture.  The miracle in this is that he had told us that he was never going to ask us for our help because he liked to do things himself.  So because he asked, we felt like he was opening his heart to the gospel and us.  We hustled and left quickly. Elder Solano and myself took advantage and wore our service clothes and our “chanclas”

          We visited many less actives before our Thanksgiving dinner.  It was a miracle because many were home and wanted to talk to us, from this I know many investigators will come out.  We went to the home of the R. Family and shared a nice time with them; they are really nice.

          Friday was Elder Solano’s 20^th Birthday and the night before we had stayed up late because my sugar was really high (303) and I didn’t want to go to bed until it came down.  We talked all night and I really see him like a brother! At midnight I sang him Happy Birthday and gave him a Lacoste cologne as a present.  All day I cooked him many yummy meals, we had fun but still worked hard.  I am so thankful to the Lord because he gave me companions that are wise and really understand me.  They have both been out over a year.  Elder Solano is from Chicago and his parents are from Mexico.

          Saturday we had 0 lessons but we were able to talk with many people and it was special.  We had planned to go to the visitor’s center with one of our investigators and everything was ready but the night before he called to cancel because he had a lot of homework for the next day.  So we had to plan what we were going to do with that time.

Sunday was “chill”; because it was 5^th Sunday it was our turn to speak.  All 5 missionaries prepared something special: there were 2 testimonies, 2 talks, and I… prepared a musical number!!!  About three weeks ago I found a book at church with different compositions of hymns.  I played “Because I have been given much” I practiced the Sunday before and the morning of, I was blessed to have learned it very fast.  I though a lot of my cheerleaders: because I missed my hugs and kisses from them.  lol

           Well! This week has been unique and thanks you for the package, as always it was perfect! I feel so much love from you guys and it is very necessary in these times. 

Weekly Scripture:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
 (Proverbs 3:5-6)

I was able to meditate this scripture and recite it with real intent.  It was a week with all types of emotions, and in some moment I would say: “ how can I serve with all my weakness”? But then I would recite this scripture and boy could I feel the love of my Savior for me.  The scriptures are a way to combine the powerful in heaven and earth in order to receive personal revelation on how we need to be in this life.  I invite you to always make a special time to read your scriptures.  When we think about how they can help us eternally we will never want to separate them from our hands.
